An exhibition about clothes at Weld by Ingela Nilsson
What do we actually regard as a piece of clothing? What separates clothes from a piece of fabric one wears on the body? Is it the material or the construction that makes the garment or is it our own conception about how clothes shall look? How important is the function for the definition of a piece of clothing today?
The clothes that are shown in the exhibition have been created on the basis of self-given restrictions: a piece of fabric with as few fastening points as possible. As a result of the restrictions the artist has been forced to challenge and surprise herself, both with to the technical work and the aesthetic expression.
