During the autumn, Weld Company has been working in different constellations with invited guest choreographers. The company has also invited a new group of dancers under the name Weld Company Extended to immerse themselves in the company's work. During this final weekend all the works of the autumn will be presented in the form of performances, talks and practices. Intensive starts up with 13 dancers from Weld Company 2013-2017 in a developed version of aswebegin that Litó Walkey created together with Weld Company 2013 as one of the company's first guests. We have also invited the choreographer Uri Turkenich and Geraldo Si, former dancer in Tanztheater Wuppertahl, who in I love my dancers takes us back to Pina Bausch's glory days and into the future.

Weld Company 2017

With the restriction ‘No Talking, No Props’, Weld Company has since since 2013 invited choreographers to share practices and methods in dance and choreography, and present this in various forms. Sometimes through a simpler form of presentation, in a more traditional performance or through open conversations with talks. The choreographers are invited to the company to have the opportunity to try something new, to return to older works or to share the practice and the work they currently are busy with.

In the autumn of 2017, the Weld Company Extended project was also launched, where a new group of dancers was invited to immerse themselves in the company's work. Weld Company Extended worked during the fall with Rebecka Stillman, Litó Walkey, Sybrig Dokter and Robin Dingemans. During the weekend, they present the work they have done with Litó Walkey and hold a talk.

Weld Company Guest Choreographers 2017

GEORGIA VARDAROU (GR/BE/ES)
is a greek choreographer and dancer. After her graduation in Athens and  P.A.R.T.S. in Brüssels and 2008 she started working as a dancer with the choreographer Salva Sanchis and she has been part in various productions of his. She also worked as a dancer with Marc Vanrunxt, Cecilie Ullerup Schmidt, Lance Gries and recently with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. As a choreographer, in 2011, she committed to a piece of research on personal movement and the content that this carries. She created the short solo Hardcore Research on Dance as an outcome. Later, both Marc Vanrunxt and Salva Sanchis created each a short solo for her as a reply to her first solo. The outcome is a solo performance in 3 parts Trigon. Then she choreographed her first full-length group piece Phenomena, a piece exploring the personal movement of each dancer while choreographing solely guided by the personal content that arises, allowing hints of narrative to appear. Her latest group piece New Narratives explored further the idea of suggesting narratives by movement and their content while allowing external material to influence the process as well. Nowadays she is busy with the piece of research "Where Dance Happens". In this research she is questioning wether offering  context narrows or broadens the experience of watching dance amongst other questions. Georgia lived in Brussels for 13 years. Lately she moved to a town nearby Barcelona. Since 2014 she is part of D.N.A. as a Focus Artist and her work is being produced by Kunst/Werk vzw (BE)


MATTHIAS SPERLING (UK)
is a choreographer and performer living and working in London, UK. His works include performances in theatre, gallery and museum contexts, video works, and exchanges that take place in public spaces and online. His work has been presented at Sadler’s Wells, Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Southbank Centre, Royal Opera House, Wellcome Collection, Dance Umbrella, Nottdance and Springdance (NL), among others. He is a frequent collaborator with Siobhan Davies, together with whom he has created and presented works at galleries including the Barbican, ICA, Whitechapel, Hayward, Tramway and Turner Contemporary.

Born in Toronto in 1974, he studied with the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre (1984-1993) and went on to study philosophy at university in Canada before coming to the UK to complete his dance studies with Transitions Dance Company at Laban (1997-1998).He danced with UK companies including Wayne McGregor’s Random Dance (2001-2006) and Matthew Bourne’s Adventures In Motion Pictures (1999-2000), before pursuing his own choreographic work.He was an Associate Artist with Dance4 (2007-2015) and is the winner of a Bonnie Bird New Choreography Award (2008).

ANDROS ZINS-BROWNE (US/BE)
is an American choreographer who lives and works in Brussels. His work consists of live and hybrid environments at the intersection between installation, performance and conceptual dance. Crossing between stage and exhibition spaces, he explores the ways that body, movement and matter can interact until they begin to take on each other's properties. Zins-Browne’s performances have been presented at the Centre Pompidou Paris, ICA London, HAU Berlin, MDT Stockholm, Het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, De Singel Antwerp, EMPAC, Troy, New York, Kaaitheater Brussels and the Impulse Festival, Düsseldorf where he received the Goethe Institute Award for his performance The Host.  His solo Already Unmade was commissioned by Boghossian Foundation and has recently been performed at the BOZAR Museum in Brussels, and The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. Currently he's been touring Atlas Revisited, a collaboration with visual artist Karthik Pandian based on the relationship between freedom and movement and the ways that image-making complicates this relationship. For this, they set out to Morocco to try and 'liberate' a group of camels by trying to get them to perform a modern dance piece by Merce Cunningham. In 2013, Andros founded The Great Indoors, an association for artistic research and production. He is currently an artist in residence at Netwerk, Aaslt until 2019.

LITÓ WALKEY (CA/DE)
of Canadian and Greek origins, is a choreographer and performer based in Berlin. Her artistic practice works with inscribed compositions that access, index and invite a relation to performance through suggesting processes that re-route and re-center natural trajectories of attention. Litó initiated as if it's just about to happen, a publication of collaborative writing expanding from workshops facilitated at HZT Berlin. Her performance projects include A round shadow with three points (2017), A populated soliloquy (2016), aswebegin / Weld Company (2013), Where’s the rest of me? (2012), Like that, Like this (2008), instanded i turn (2006), The Missing Dance No.7 (2005) and wings raised to a second power (2002). From 2002-2009 Litó was a member of the Chicago-based performance group Goat Island. She maintains ongoing collaborations with artists such as Boris Hauf, Jeanine Durning, Lucy Cash and Karen Christopher and worked as a performer with choreographers Vera Mantero and Martine Piscani (a.o.). Litó has taught regularly in the MA SODA and BA Dance Context Choreography programs at HZT Berlin since the pilot phase in 2007, and was Professor and head of the BA program from 2013-2016. She teaches in the MA Choreography program at DOCH Stockholm and is often invited to advise choreographic work. Litó completed her BA and Masters studies in Choreography at the Amsterdam University of the Arts.
