A double process, May 6th

A double process by Ingrid Cogne
solos for Anna Pehrsson and Erik Åberg

A double process is what Ingrid Cogne is working on … Her interest: To create a time-lapse in suspension. A statement for this double process could be: in order to create magic you have to be present. The questioning of the notions of presence, physicality and virtuosity will be the real content of the presented soli. The expectation of a double process: to increase the potentiality of getting lost.

2 soli created in parallel and in collaboration with 2 performers: Anna Pehrsson (dancer) and Erik Åberg (jongleur, circus, magi). A positioning regarding inviting others in her work: to respect the statement she made in the last solo she created 2010 titled I.D.: to do not create any solo for herself anymore to stop what she calls the ‘spiral of doing myself’ that has been the sustainability of her professional activities the past 6 years.

The 2 soli presented are pieces part of a series of double processes thought as a playground where each solo will propose an organization of the chaos. By progressing with slowness or regression, Ingrid Cogne has the ambition to, with the support of a ‘hasard raisonné, challenge the relations time-space, process-product and theory-practice in the in between two processes.

Questions: How a silent language could create an economy that exceeds the declared resources of the classical logos? How to facilitate the bob up of details that will escape the representation and manifest themselves out of the control of knowledge and skills?

On stage
Anna Pehrsson is a Swedish dancer educated at Ballet Academy 1997-2000 and the Performing Group 2000-2001 at the University College of Dance and Choreography both Stockholm. Between the years 2005-2006 she worked at Stockholm City Theatre and from 2006-2007 she was a member of Alias Compagnie (CH), artistic director Guilherme Botelho. Anna’s eleven years of dance practice are marked by collaborations with groups and choreographers such as Birgitta Egerbladh (S), Recoil Performance Group (DK), Christoph Winkler (DE) and most currently Deborah Hay (USA).
She has been commented upon in the press in the following way: ”Time Map excellently danced by Anna Pehrsson as Ottillia” Wibeke Wern/ Danstidningen. ”Anna Pehrsson is exemplary in versatility” Maria Schottenius/ Svd ”Her dance is pained, careful and unexpectedly bold” Alison Koehler/ Copenhagen Post. She teaches professional class in contemporary technique in Sweden and Denmark.

Erik Aberg lives in Stockholm but was born in Skellefteå, Sweden 1978.
After graduating from circus school in Stockholm in 2003 he worked as a juggler in his own company, Idiot Savant in the show Vita Män and in 2004 he co-founded Salong Giraff, a variety show that played monthly at Orionteatern, Folkoperan and Park teatern 2004-2010. In late 2010 Salong Giraff started producing longer running shows, starting at Orionteatern with Tombola Tragique in 2010 followed by Les Parias and Euphoria both in 2011. In 2005 Erik joined the cast of Louisiana Circus, a Jazz/circus show produced by the Finnish contemporary circus company Circo Aereo and has since participated in two more performances; FUR! in 2007 and Pieniä Paloja in 2008. In 2006 together with American juggler Jay Gilligan he went on the Shoe Box Tour and has under that title toured United States 3 times, Iceland 3 times, and also Japan and the north of Sweden.
Since 2007 he has studied the history of juggling quite intensively and started to give lectures on this topic in 2009. His ongoing dialogue and interviewing of historian Karl-Heinz Ziethen who is considered the most knowledgeable person on the subject, has now reached more than 60 hours of filmed interviews. A good portion of the research has been devoted to the mythical artist Paul Cinquevalli, who laid the foundation to juggling as we know it, in the late 1800´s.

Eriks field of work constantly borderlines and mixes with other forms of creation and in 2010 he designed a bicycle with a travel case for the Swedish bicycle brand Sson. In 2011 he designed the graphics for Christopher Robin´s handmade, Graeme Obree inspired track bike, created for a one-hour world record attempt. He has performed in most European countries and also in USA, Canada and Japan.
